RAINDROPS ARE THE TEARS

Rain is the tears that lovers lost
Each one that falls, they count the cost
Of plans gone wrong, dreams gone awry
When lovers turn and say goodbye.

Clouds are the veil that hides the truth
Like lips that hide the biting tooth
That hold the tears in icy grasp
Until they are let go at last.

The chill we feel in Winter's rain
Is it Love's ghost returned again?
And though we dress against the chill
We feel its presence living still.

I've felt the raindrops on my face
Wrapped against Winter's cold embrace
Those memories came back again
Of Lover's tears lost in the rain.

But now the sun shines bright today
A fresh new wind blows clouds away
And other mem'ries spring anew
of fresh sweet hopes and thoughts of you.

O when, at last, our souls soar free
Unfettered from Life's "has to be"
Then like the sun and fresh new breeze
Above Life's cares we'll soar with ease.

Where rain and clouds no more will bar
The light that shines from distant stars
That leads lost lovers safely home
Back to a future, yet unknown.
